Abstract

Background and objectives : Patient safety leadership walk-rounds are proper techniques to the contribution of executive managers and other staffs to improve the safety in hospitals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the patient safety leadership walk-rounds that were held in ShahidMahallati hospital. Material and Methods : This is a descriptive, triangulated (qualitative and quantitative) study. All the records of patient safety leadership walk-rounds in 2013 were analyzed by content and the usefulness of taken actions were assessed with research-made form. Results : During 1 year period, 31 patient safety leadership walk-rounds were held in 19 different areas of the hospital and 236 safety issues were identified, of which 75% were completely resolved. Conclusion : Patient safety leadership walk-rounds are useful methods to express the executive managers' commitment to safety and to attract other staffs contribution to improve the safety.
